Breastfeeding is a natural process that can occur instinctively but it is not always easy and successful. It requires knowledge and continuous practice. Facts show that 40% of women cannot breastfeed their babies due to pain and swelling experienced in their breasts during the initial breastfeeding process. Many mothers choose to use a combination of breast milk and formula milk and this is not an Exclusive Breastfeeding process. If this condition is not followed up, it will cause obstacles to growth which can be at risk of stunting. Maximizing the provision of Exclusive Breastfeeding can be done by improving breastfeeding techniques. The right technique is often overlooked. Understanding the correct management of how breast milk is produced (breastfeeding physiology), how to position and attach properly so that the baby can suck effectively. Adequate breast milk can be measured through the baby's response after breastfeeding, frequency of urination, defecation, and weight loss of no more than 7% of birth weight. The method of care provided through understanding, the process of breastfeeding and signs of adequate breast milk. Mothers are taught breastfeeding techniques so that they are expected to be ready when the breastfeeding process takes place. Mother understands what is meant by Exclusive Breastfeeding, how to give it and the signs that the baby has enough breastmilk. Mother can practice the technique of giving Exclusive Breastfeeding and is ready to face the breastfeeding process.
